That's also what I've been told. As for being miffed, that would be one word
I'd use. I can see the commercial "reason" for ditching her if there are as
few users as some people suggest or that the supporting hardware is nearing
the end of its life, but that doesn't make the "customer service" element
any less galling.
I agree with Richard Jones' comment about techie users being the very people
that a network should be looking after, and totally concur with Mr Parker's
"miffed" - I personally still find Wildfire's voice interface (notably voice
dialling with stored contacts) utterly invaluable when in any handsfree
situation (carkit and headset to name but two) and will miss it - a step
backwards I feel, whatever excuse is trotted out.
I guess in some ways, the "look after your existing customers" campaign only
seems to apply to the face-value product - and not necessarily to the
less-promoted value added services that techie users (sometimes by
definition in a minority) use and appreciate. To these customers, I can only
assume that the bean-counters have won again - with another useful,
innovative service biting the dust :-(
